From bicycle tires to car tires

Rebuilding the business in the postwar period

In 1946, an engineer called Adolf Goertz founded "Erste Herzberger Vulkanisieranstalt", where sneakers and balls are made of rubber. Automobile tires began to gain importance, but in the postwar period the shop mainly dealt with the repair of bicycle tires. After inheriting from the company founder, who didnt have any children, Dorothea Küke, an office clerk and her brother, Heinrich Lisson, set up "Küke & Lisson oHG" in 1950 from the small business which they took over in 1949.

The company focused further on the repair of bicycle tires and bicycles. At the same time the economic miracle and the wealth it had brought contributed to a rapid proliferation of automobiles. After joining the family business, the young Klaus-Peter Küke (* 1947), son of Dorothea and Karl Küke, continued to dedicate himself into the sales of passenger car tires, which were mounted directly in the workshop and at the backyard.
